Top 5 places to stay - Siquijor Island

Updated: Apr 6, 2019

My luxury, mid-range and 'on a budget' accomodation suggestions for your trip to Siquijor Island.

The Best Accomodation on a Budget

Tropical FunTaSea

Modern and clean accommodation facing the ocean, each room has a balcony with views out to sea. In the evening this location is stunning for sunset drinks on the beach, nice music and good food.

Double/twin rooms cost 2,500Pesos and family rooms(4people) cost 3,500Pesos. Wifi and breakfast included.

They also offer lots of activities such as paddle boards, jet skis, banana boats and more.

The Bruce

The friendly community of this family run complex is very popular with travellers to Siquijor. They offer a variety of accommodation from cute bamboo tree house to large beachfront cottages. All are very clean and comfortable. They have lots of facilities at your disposal here including a swimming pool, free kayaks, wifi, beach hut BBQ areas and motorbike rental.

The bruce has a great location on Solangon beach in San Juan, very close to lots of restaurants and bars including the popular Dagsa Restobar and Monkey Business.

You can also jump into their private mini van and take day tours around the island.

– Tree house (2 people)- 750 Pesos per night – Economy room (2 people)with private bathroom – 1000 Pesos per night – Beach front cottage (2 people) with kitchen, bathroom and veranda – 1,200 Pesos per night – Large beach front cottage (4 people) with kitchen, bathroom and large veranda – 1,800 Pesos per night

The Best Mid - Range Accomodation

Mandala Tribe TreeHouse

Newly opened on the island and owned by the same couple who own Monkey Business Bar, this place is a little island beauty. There are 8 double story bungalows facing into a garden with very well designed details and an instagrammers dream. They serve a gorgeous breakfast to your room in the morning to enjoy on your private balcony. Stunning and clean outdoor bathrooms, comfortable beds and air-conditioning. It's a great stay for couples.

My only comment is that this place is slightly far west of where you want to be in San Juan but it’s not a massive problem with lots of transport options available, just bare in mind the extra cost of travel.

They offer good good WiFi but no bar or food available, also breakfast isn’t included, costing around 140Pesos/person. Double room bungalow is 2,500P/night.

U Story

My favourite spot on the island, it’s absolutely dreamy. A sea facing, cliff top property, beautifully decorated in a bohemian style which welcomes a loungey atmosphere, with big white day beds and cabanas. There’s a fresh water mini infinity pool to chill in and steps into the crystal clear ocean below the cliff. Don’t forget to grab a snorkel and mask from reception and go turtles spotting at sunset. Another great location for couples. Hang out here for the day or stay in one of the charming bungalows, built in respect of local traditions. Each bungalow has an outside double bed (as well as inside) with a four-poster mosquito net, so you can sleep under the stars.

Standard rooms are 2,600P/night and family rooms are 3,200P/night. The restaurant offers delicious Franco-Filipino food with something for everyone including some vegetarian options but mostly seafood. Main courses range from 340-710Pesos. Rum and coke is 115P and cocktails are around 170P.

The Best Luxury Accomodation

Coco Grove Beach Resort

If you fancy abit of TLC and rejuvenation whilst travelling then this is the place to come.

Don’t be put off by a big hotel complex, other than the main reception and lots of security, the rooms feel like little jungle cottages hidden in the trees. They have 3 big pools and lots of space for sun soaking. The complex is very big and spread out so you won’t be bumping into many people as you wonder around. There is a pristine white sand beach and lovely areas for food by the ocean under palm trees.

Coco Grove Beach Resort offers native style Cottages and Villas, set within tropical gardens or right along the beach. All rooms are air-conditioned and have a private veranda with mini-bar and complementary tea or coffee. Rooms vary in size and layout depending on the number of guests per room. The resort has two main restaurants, the Sunset Restaurant offers a mix of Filipino and European cuisine and is situated right on the beach with live Spanish music. Next the, Salamandas Restaurant specialises in seafood, international cuisine with island influences and fresh regular specials, in a fine dining oceanfront atmosphere.

A standard room here = 4,200Pesos

A Deluxe room = 5,600 Pesos

Continue working your way through the scale, up to a Penthouse suit = 10,000Pesos +

There is a peaceful outside spa, a massage here will cost you 700Pesos for a full body for 1 hour. They also have a small gym with a few resistance machines, dumbbells and cardio machines including treadmills.

Coco Grove Resort offer day trips/transfers to Apo Island but it depends on daily demand whether or not they run the boat. It is possible to get a seat on this even if you aren't staying with the resort. You can contact the reception for more details.
