Top 3 places to Eat - Siquijor Island

My guide to the best restaurants and bars on Siquijor Island, including vegetarian and vegan friendly options.

"Is there nightlife in Siquijor?"

Siquijor is definitely not a party island, it soaks up island life and then falls asleep at midnight. If you happen to be there on a Friday night then you can’t miss the party at Czars Place. There is no dress code, except a live local band and a DJ. Plan to arrive at 9-10pm so you can enjoy the best of it. A similar party takes place in Sylvia every Saturday. If you’re not feeling a party then Baha Ba'r or Monkey Business are great for a couple of drinks.

Baha Ba'r

VIBES!

This British owned place has a “loungey” informal laid-back atmosphere, perfect to chill out during the day and night. Grab a comfy sofa, relax with book and order a fresh juice. When the sun goes down enjoy half price cocktails from 4.30-6.30 and pick a spot on the ocean front sunset deck with a pack of cards. Most nights they have live acoustic music under a gorgeous candlelit dinner and the place is bursting.

The menu is heaven for everyone, from North American and European staples, Asian favourites and Filipino signatures. It’s especially good for vegans and vegetarians, which is hard to say when travelling. From veggie burgers and pizzas to quinoa salads and sweet potato bruschetta.

Baha Ba'r says “it’s menu is simple: fresh local organic ingredients”.

Mostly all of the vegetables have come from the nearby organic farm, what they can’t grow they source locally.

They even raise their own pigs, native chickens and produce their own honey. All the herbs and condiments for cocktails have been grown in the garden along with most of the fresh fruit.

They also brew their own craft beer, (pale ale, IPA and blonde ale) the only place on the island.

Mains cost between 200-350Pesos and a Rum and Coke costs 90Pesos.

Monkey Bussiness

Polish and Filipino owners of Monkey Business have created an awesome hang out for travellers and locals. I would give this place a high score, the vibes, the food and the live music make a recipe for Island life.

A pull for tourists because of the selection of tasty fresh food including great vegetarian and vegan options.

The curries are phenomenal and the calamari is top-notch.They also have gourmet burgers, pizzas, Asian dishes and lots of share'ables. Don’t forget to try the banana fries, because they blew my mind.

Rum and Coke costs 80Pesos and G&T is 130Pesos. Main courses average around 250Pesos.

If you think you’re hard enough give the Spicy Spring Roll challenge a try to win a free beer and a sore belly.

UStory

The restaurant at Ustory offers delicious Franco-Filipino food with something for everyone including some vegetarian options but mostly seafood. Mac-Mac, your host, will share with you his passion for gastronomy and prepare a fresh combination of savors from southern France and exotic tropics. You can also enjoy their homemade tapas menu and ask for Laurence who will show you her wine collection.

Aside from the food at U Story being of high quality, its the clifftop location of the property that you will instantly fall in love with. I recommend arriving well before dinner time to enjoy sundowners on the lush day beds looking over the ocean, you might be lucky enough to see turtles below. As soon as I arrived here I instantly fell in love.

Main courses are on the more expensive end of the scale from 340-710Pesos. Rum and coke is 115Pesos and cocktails are around 170P. However, you can spend the day relaxing here so the price of dinner if worth it in my opinion.
